News from the NFL – February 8

The celebration is still going strong in Green Bay, but there are 31 other teams including Philadelphia that are working on a plan to bring the Vince Lombardi Trophy back home from Super Bowl XVLI in Indianapolis.

Bodog.com has opened the Eagles at 16/1 to win next year's Super Bowl which is slightly better odds than last year's 25/1 odds. Much of their chances will hinge on Michael Vick's ability to play at a high level for a full 16-game season. It will also hinge on Andy Reid's ability to plug some of the gaping holes on defense that once again exposed themselves down the stretch.

I just cannot help but think how this season would have turned out if Vick would have completed that last throw in the end zone against the Packers, or if David Akers would have made those two field goals to give the Eagles the lead in that game.

Once again would of, could of, should of is the tagline of another disappointing end to the year, but one thing that last season did establish is that this team is not that far away from making a legitimate run at a championship.

The following is a link to a new weekly series that I will be posting on this site, "News from the NFL". It was originally posted on ATS Sportsline.
