The Dallas Cowboys have suddenly become the darling of the NFC East by virtue of a 6-4 record and first-place tie with New York for the lead in the division.
If Washington kicker Graham Gano's 52-yard field goal attempt in overtime of last Sunday's game would have been good, everyone would be talking about how the Cowboys let another game slip away. However since it went wide and Dallas ended-up squeaking-out a 27-24 victory, the 'Boys are back in the spotlight on ESPN and the NFL Network.
Here is a news alert in case anyone has not been closely following the NFC East this season; this division is a non-factor. Even though at least one of the teams has to be included in the playoffs, there is a good chance it will be a one-and done no matter which team wins the division title.
The Cowboys will win their Turkey Day game against the Dolphins (unless it snows in Dallas) and continue to create the illusion that they can compete with the elite teams in the NFC, but the reality is that the NFC East is much like the Big East in college football; a closet Mid-Major in a major conference world.
