NFC Top Three Matchups – Week 6 Handicapping Report

After playing three AFC North teams in the first five weeks, the Eagles return home this Sunday to square-off against the Detroit Lions in one of the few NFC matchups on this week's schedule.

This game is almost a must-win for the Lions who are coming off a bye after a 1-3 start. Their offense has been able to move the ball and put an average of 25 points a game on the board, but Detroit's defense has been torched for a total of 91 points in its last three games.

We all know what the story is with the Eagles as once again a Michael Vick turnover heading into the end zone in the first half of last Sunday's game in Pittsburgh proved to be far more costly than some of his 10 other turnovers this season. Give Vick credit for also leading three touchdown drives late in the fourth quarter that proved to be game winners and engineering a late drive last Sunday that gave the Birds a one-point lead with just a few minutes left on the clock. I look for a complete effort from Vick and the entire offense this Sunday in a game that finally does not have us on the edge of our seats until the final gun.

Below is a link to my look at the top three matchups in the NFC this week in an article that was originally posted on Bang the Book.

Check back at the end of the week for my complete preview and prediction for Sunday's Eagles game at the Linc.
